VeloNews.com seeks experienced editor
VeloNews.com is looking for an experienced editor who knows bicycle racing.
Responsibilities include: Driving all editorial content for VeloNews.com, a 365-day news operation Leading online editorial team Ensuring coverage of all major international and national races Managing broadcast schedule for features, columns and other departments Acquiring content by coordinating with VeloNews editors, writers, freelancers and photographers; reporting and writing regularly; monitoring news wires, press releases, industry Web sites and other news sources Editing, fact-checking, rewriting, copyediting and posting copy generated by VeloNews editorial staff, freelance contributors, news wire and press releases Managing and posting photos and graphics to VeloNews.com; writing headlines and photo captions
Requirements include: Five years newspaper or similar experience Proven ability to edit, report and write with sound news judgment Bachelor’s degree in (preferably) journalism or English Thorough knowledge of bike racing Proven ability to work effectively on deadline with a wide range of personalities
Desirable traits include: Command of multiple languages Web site editing experience Personal interest in cycling
