VeloNews offers a variety of ways to follow the 2008 Tour de France online.

It's almost July and the Tour de France season has begun. And this year, you can follow every move of the world's largest bike race, no matter where you are, on VeloNews.com.

Say you are in line at your bank, or by the side of the road in St. André-de-la-Marche, with your cell phone handy: you can find out who is ahead with live text updates at mobile.velonews.com

Even if you follow the race on TV, keep your laptop handy because VeloNews.com has so many Tour resources, we had to make a Tour-only Web site to hold it all. At tour-de-france.velonews.com, you'll find everything you need to follow the race, including course maps, terrain profiles and route descriptions. You will of course find all the latest news and photos from VeloNews reporters and photographers on the scene, plus daily video reports and highlights, and our popular live text updates.

Here's a quick run-down of some of the Tour-following resources available to you this year at VeloNews.com:

A whole site for the Tour

Tour-de-France.velonews.com is an entire Web site devoted to the Tour. It features all our Tour-related articles, videos and photo galleries, plus resources like stage descriptions, complete standings for all the categories and a Tour 101 for new fans, written by VeloNews Editor in Chief, Ben Delaney.

The bike world continues to spin in July, even outside France, so you will still find complete coverage of domestic road racing, mountain bike racing, technical reports, new products, training tips and columns at www.velonews.com. It's easy to navigate between the two sites: just click on the link in the black banner at the top of the page.

Going Mobile

Whether you are commuting by train or stuck in a boring meeting, take a sneak at the Web browser on your phone for quick text updates on every stage. Just point your mobile browser to mobile.velonews.com. You can also read all VeloNews.com articles on your phone at the same address.

And the Live Update window is the place to go to enter the daily pick the winner contest. Winners receive cool prizes from Specialized.

Words

VeloNews built its reputation on the strength of its reporting and writing. This year, Editorial Director John Wilcockson, European Correspondent Andrew Hood and Senior Writer Neal Rogers will report on the race for VeloNews.com from Brest to Paris.

In addition, VeloNews Technical Editor Matt Pacocha will be at the Tour, reporting back on the trends and the latest equipment the pros are using this year.

Video

VeloNews Senior Writer Neal Rogers will be reporting daily from the Tour, with behind-the-scenes inteviews, expert commentary and features you won't see anywhere else. VeloNews.com also will provide video diaries from Garmin-Chipotle's Magnus Backstedt and Team Columbia's George Hincapie and race highlights after every stage.

Photographers Graham Watson and Casey Gibson will share galleries after each stage, with the best shots of the race action, the scenery, and the behind-the-scenes stories. Gibson also will be following America's newest Tour team, Garmin-Chipotle, with special access to the team throughout the Tour.

Fresh Korn

We are thrilled to report that one of VeloNews.com's most popular racer columnists, Garmin-Chipotle's Will Frischkorn, made the Tour team and will be sharing daily diaries with VeloNews.com readers. Will is sure to deliver the same kind of observational humor and thoughtful analysis that readers have come to love in his columns, while giving us an inside view of an up-and-coming pro's first time at the Big Show.

Text

The VeloNews.com Live Update is one of the most popular ways to follow the race. For each stage, the VeloNews team works together to produce a constantly updated text report with the facts along with commentary, color, and even occasionally some humor. The Live Updates are an easy way to follow the racing, whether you are sneaking an occasional glance during the work day or waiting until evening to read it through from beginning to end.
