Lalonde brothers dominate WORS
Jesse Lalonde (Gary Fisher 29er/BKB/T6) and Abigail Strigel (Polska/Fond du Lac Cyclery) won the Chippewa Valley Firecracker on Sunday.
The race at Eau Claire’s Lowes Creek Park was the sixth event of the Wisconsin Off Road Series.
Lalonde held off his teammate and brother Marko Lalonde to take the Elite Men's win. The brothers, each on singlespeeds, were followed by Mike Phillips (Adventure 212 / Specialized).
In the Elite Women's contest, Strigel rode to first place on the singletrack-dominated course, finishing in 1:45:10, ahead of second place Holly Liske (Hayes Disc Brakes) at 1:47:45. Third went to Diana McFadden (Ski Hut; 1:50:30).
In the Comp class race, Ben Koenig took first, Jeff Curtes second and Joe Curtes came in third.
The next race in the series will take place on July 27.
