PRESS RELEASE: Lapierre Ultimate Cycles opens North American branch
Lapierre Ultimate Cycles (member of Accell Group, leading European bike group), has officially opened a branch office in North America, and plans on distributing a complete line of road and mountain bikes starting in October 2005 at Interbike. After an investigative trip to the States in April for the Sea Otter Classic, Gilles Lapierre, Managing Director, officially appointed Brett Lindstrom as Sales and Marketing Manager for the US Market. Headquarters will be located in Boulder, Colorado, a geographic hub for the U.S. cycling community.
Brett comes to Lapierre with extensive knowledge in the bicycle retail industry but also with international import/export experience. He worked for Lafuma America for several years managing distribution before going to work for Bicycle Village. A bike racing veteran, Brett has also competed in France and the US at the top levels of each discipline of the sport. With a commitment to quality and performance mirroring that of Lapierre’s, Brett will certainly play an integral role in introducing this French brand to the American market.
Lapierre is a high-end road and mountain bike manufacturer with R&D and production headquarters located in Dijon, France. Founded in 1946, the company has based its steady growth on innovation, technology, and quality. After securing their position as a top-selling brand in France, Lapierre is now responding to interest abroad, in Europe as well as in North America.
Lapierre has already gained international exposure thanks to the commitment and performances of their athletes, including the professional road racing team, Française des Jeux. The experience and insight gained from some of the world’s top athletes is directly integrated into the conception and design of Lapierre bikes, resulting in top performance machines with that famous French flair.
A constant pursuit of innovative solutions has pushed Lapierre’s engineers to develop numerous technologies, including the road carbon technology 0.9C. Riders from the Française des Jeux used this monocoque super-light frame, weighing in at 900g, in last year’s Tour de France. The MTB range has also been meticulously designed to offer pioneering solutions to riders searching for efficient and lightweight bikes with quality, harmonized components.
