Hondo appeals suspension to CAS
German cyclist Danilo Hondo has appealed a two-year doping suspension to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland.
But both the UCI, which governs cycling, and the World Anti-Doping Agency have asked CAS to increase the penalty.
Switzerland's sports disciplinary body, Swiss Olympic, banned Hondo for two years in June for testing positive twice for the stimulant carphedon during the Tour of Murcia in March, where he won two stages and wore the leader's yellow jersey.
But Hondo can start racing again next year on probation.
Hondo, who has denied knowingly taking carphedon, is asking the court to allow him to compete again immediately.
The cyclist lives in Switzerland and is under the jurisdiction of the Swiss federation. CAS should have a decision within four months.
