Biography
The son of former cyclist Jacinto Paulinho, Paulinho won the world under-23 time trial championship in 2001. He turned pro the following year with the Portuguese team LA Pecol. In 2004, he placed a narrow second to Paolo Bettini at the Olympic road race. After two years with Liberty Seguros/Astana, Paulinho rode for Discovery Channel in 2007, including working as a domestique at the Tour de France. For 2008, he returns to Astana.
