Champs Challenge for Cystic Fibrosis - Jul 12th, 2009

June 22, 2009, Burlington, VT – Cystic Fibrosis Lifestyle Foundation (CFLF) announced this years Champs Challenge for Cystic Fibrosis will be held at Basin Harbor Club on July 12th. The event, which consists of either a 7 mile bike ride or a 40 mile bike ride, will start at the club and take participants on a scenic tour of Addison County finishing at the Basin Harbor waterfront dock with a barbeque and reception. Funds raised from this, one of the most critical events to the foundation, will go to support CFLF grants, given to individuals with Cystic Fibrosis aimed at offering them fun and free ways to improve their health and self-confidence through physical activity.

Brian Callanan, Director of CFLF commented, “This is an incredibly important event – not only for the foundation, but for the hundreds of individuals living with CF that come to us for grants every year. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and board of directors, last year we were able to fund 50 grants totaling $25,000, but there is still an unmet need for additional funding. We hope this event, with support from the community will help bridge that gap.”

Already sponsoring the event are New Balance, The Ski Rack, North Star Sports, UPS Store, Key Bank and 95 Triple-X, but many more sponsorship opportunities are still available. Registration to ride either the 7 mile loop or 40 mile loop is $50, participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of $100 in addition to the registration fee which can be turned in at the start of the ride. Additionally, there is a BBQ reception only ticket available for $25.
