
Spain’s only major one-day classic, the Clásica is the traditional opener of San Sebastián summer fiestas, so the mood is always raucous as the bunch roars down La Boulevard in front of the Playa de la Concha for the final sprint. First comes a decisive climb over the Jaizkibel, the emblematic climb towering over the Bay of Biscayne with about 25 kilometers to go to thin the field.
